Established in 1952, it is one of the oldest Grampanchayt in telangana. In August 2018 established as a new Urban Local Body .the Town Population has 19772 as per 2011 census. and to achieve 100% door-to-door SW collection. About 70% of households started practicing two-bin SW segregation into wet and dry waste. 15 cement bins in city.

There is one hospital in the city for health care. The Govt Civil Hospital in the city, serving the patients from the Near Villages.
Economy
Agriculture is the main economic activity with irrigation depending mainly on monsoon and seasonal rainfalls. Major crops are paddy, cotton, mango and wheat. Sulthanabad benefits from the SRSP Dam (Godavari) to irrigate drought prone areas in the North Telangana region.
Roadway
The city is connected to major cities and towns by means of road and railways. Rajiv Highway(SH-1) is a Four lane express Toll road in Northern Telangana, India. The highway is managed by Hyderabad - Karimnagar - Ramagundam .The Highway begins at Jubilee Bus Station in Hyderabad and joins NH-63 at the Indaram Jaipur mandal of Mancherial district.. TSRTC operates buses to various destinations from Jammikunta,Odela and Kalvasrirampur of the city.
Railway
Sulthanabad has one railway station .They are administered under the jurisdiction of the Secunderabad railway division of South Central Railway zone. Railways operates to rails Jagityal to kagajnagar and weekly special train from karimnagar to Tirupathi.
Festivals
Festivals in the city include, a floral festival of Bathukamma being celebrated by women of the city, worshiping the goddess with different flowers for nine days.
